FFT Funding

Has the FFT made the right moves with the funding received from the Tasmanian Government so far?

The Board of Sport and Recreation Tasmania has agreed to fund the following:
  1. Employment of part-time Development Officers,
  2. Junior Association Grants,
  3. Statewide Coach & Referee Seminars,
  4. Subsidised Coaching Courses for Junior Associations, and
  5. Club Administration Courses.

What could they further do with the surplus funding?

They could use it to lure some big name clubs in e.g. their is a tournament being held in Launceston on the 9th 10th and 11th. The teams are Launceston Juventus, Devonport City, Tilford Zebras and the Northern Spirit. Norther Spirit are teh old NSL side who then became the Central Coast Mariners in the A-League. Im guessing they ahev merged or created a new club and they are goin to be join our tasmanian football league. Hope peopel get up to Launceston for these games as Northern Spirit haev a few imports and decent players. Liek to hear peoples comments on thsi too.

Cheers

Big Name Clubs?? Like Gladesville Spirit?? Get real!!

FYI Northern Spirit folded at the end of the old NSL. It didn't become Central Coast Mariners (completely seperate licence) and it didn't become anything else.

The NSW team taking part in this mickey mouse tournament is Gladesville Spirit, a team that plays in the NSW div 1 comp, and I would suggest the only connection to the former Northern Spirit would be in name only, Spirit!!

To suggest or infer that this is a big name team is wrong and your state body would be mad to put good money into attracting the likes of Gladesville. If you want big names look at A-League or even State Premier League teams NOT Div.1 teams.

Gladesville are probably down here on their preseason build-up and trying to fleece a few dollars out of the dumb Tasmanians. Seems to be working too.

We don't even have a Tasmanian Football League. What are you talking about? It's a preseason kick around at best.

Easy peoples whats with all the squablling?? So it may not be the original Spirit, its still good to see interstate teams wanting to come to Tassie for a preseason hit-out!
