North v South

It is fantastic to see the North v South rivalry up and running again, for both the Mens and Womens competitions. It seemed as if all the games were well recieved by both the players and supporters who attended the matches. Not only is it providing a good new incentive for the players to achieve at a higher level, but its allowing the states top players to showcase their talents all in a single game. The longer these matches continue to be built up the greater emphasis players, coaches, clubs and supporters will put on them.

would of been better if both teams were full strength

And the game wasn't on Grand Final day. No regular punter in his/her right mind would come and watch.

Great concept though, it'd be a shame if it wasn't persisted with

As the concept gains in status both teams will be full strength. Traditional rivalry as long as it remains on the park is a big plus for Tasmanian football. I agree about the unfortunate date though. We are still not strong enough to compete with an AFL grand final. One Day!!

I just looked at the State team, what a joke, the game between North and South in Hobart was a very close encounter, North actually had the ball in the back of the net for a winner only to be ruled offside. A team from the North won the State Title. Suprise suprise the State team has just the one Northerner in the starting eleven, I would like to know who picked the team.
will there ever be any equality in the State football?????
What would happen if Launceston became the base for FFT????
If an institute is formed will it be alligned with the TIS in Launy?

The "State" team was chosen from those players who participated in the North v South games only. Many were either not available for that series - or for whatever reason chose not to participate. Both coaches provided input as to who they thought deserved to be in the side based on the performances over the two games played.

I actually spoke with Ray, the coach of the Northern side and he told me that he was not given the opportunity to give his input to the state selection, selection was not done on the two games played. It was very southern biased, the only northern in first eleven had a poor couple of games but got in due to reputation as the token Northern rep
