Your A-League Squad

If Tasmania were to get that elusive A-League license today, who do you think locally would make an extended squad?

theres some names from people from the south in the last few years who you could mix with some interstate players to make a decent line up, theres probly a copule from the north who could be on that list as well

Derek Schipper

i would say those names above with a copule of imports could make a good v leauge team

I don't really know the names of our good players, though I recognise Shay and Corey from Vikings Futsal.

But it looks like a lot of the same names being suggested.

First step towards a V-League or A-League team - get these guys training as a squad! Play some friendlies just as a "Tas representative team". Then we will also know how good we are compared to the rest of the country!

Sounds like a pretty decent southern team. Don't think you could get away with calling it a state team though. Maybe you could with the addition of:

Todd Hingston - Somerset
Keegan Wells - Somerset
Chris McKenna - Devonport
Pieter Oosterloo - Riverside
Derek Schipper - Northern Rangers
Rod Andrews - Ulverstone

etc

McKenna, Gates, Horgan, Flonta, Carey, Mathers, Atkinson, B Gasparinatos, Hess, Palmer, Wells...

What a waste of time with every body simply putting forward players from their own club or area.

Chuq said...

Well people would know players from their own club or area the best - so that doesn't seem weird at all.

I will post only people that play in southern prem league as that is what I know best. Jayden Wiggins (are you on drugs? why him?

GK - Peter
Defenders - JLo, Marchiolli, Telega, Robinson,
Midfielders - Beecroft, Ladic, Roach, Iseli
Forwards - Sanita, Brown

Tried to pick a team that would be around for a few years together and can all play

well if ihad to say i would definetly put in josh fielding he is my step brother and he is very good

hi guys, here is the line up:

Coach: Shay Hickey - Retired

GK. Ben Peter - G.Knights
GK. Michael McKenna - Taroona
Def. Johny Lo - Sth Hobart
Def. Corey Smith - G. Knights
Def. Janko Begavic - G. Knights
Def. Hugh Ludford - Sth Hobart
Def. Mark Rapley - University
Def. Ryan Smith - Zebras
Mid. Johno Ladic - G. Knights
Mid. Bart Beecroft - Sth Hobart
Mid. Ben Crosswell - Burnie
Mid. Tom Roach - Sth Hobart
Mid. Riki Self - Zebras
Mid. Pieter Oosterloo - Riverside
Mid. Billy Gaspronatos - Taroona
Mid. Billy Bremner - Clarence
Fwd. Chris McKenna - Devonport
Fwd. Daniel Brown - Sth Hobart
Fwd. Chris Senita - Kingbrough
Fwd. Beau Thomson - Devonport
Fwd. Mark Falzon - Zebras

That is an extended squad of 21 players. From that you could pick a pretty good squad, and any outside players would be a bonous. Not A-league standard, but a young squad that would get better.
Probably more from the North that i dont know.
shay

these names are quite good and could easily play.... interesting to see how many players in these squads that missed out on south vs north selections last year?
young fella for devonport.. tallish with blonde hair is one i would include also in the defence. Good composure and good touch aswell as strength.

shay you should take up coaching good squad you have chosen, add a couple of tasmanians from the mainland and you will have a very competitve team

Anonymous said...

mainella sh*ts on peter or mckenna

blackjacks blog will be opening one of these so u should put ur teams on there so a few people actualy read it??

Big call about "John Dymond"? His brother Neil is way more famous..Never heard of John Dymond. The metro shirt that he pulled on must have been a "metro" bus driver shirt? Liam Monagle was one of the greatest players to play in Tasmania.

Their wouldn't be too many locals playing in an A-league side due to quality.

Anonymous said...

Foad played for Oakleigh Cannons 2 seasons ago so he'd have to be in there for sure. the VPL has/had heaps of players who compete for A-League positions

Anonymous said...

half these players are complete donkeys.... who have not won a thing in their lives.... and have no heart let alone something you could call technique.... thats whats lacking here... there is only about 2-3 players in the whole state that could even get a kick in a state league comp let alone a-league
