Coaching

A current hot topic in Tasmanian soccer; the introduction of minimum coaching standards for 2007. Do players think their coaches at their club are providing good coaching or are they just going through the motions? Are the coaching requirements necessary?

I think its a bit of both, some coaches go through the motions but they all put in an effort in the long run, its not an easy gig! I do think the coaching requirements are necessary, at least at the higher levels anyway, and maybe for coaching of juniors. It just helps the game in the long run.

A minimum coaching standard is not enough at senior or junior level.
clubs should provide high quality coaches to the players especially at junior level so skills can be developed at an early age. This will benefit not only the players and Clubs but the Football in general in Tasmania. At the moment FFT are running a Coaching Senior License which only one Premier League Coach is attending - not good enough!!!

So are we to assume that if somebody has a ticket they suddenly become a great coach? What a crock, I know people with qualifications who don't understand the game at all and others with no qualifications who have been playing and coaching for years who are doing a great job.
Who would you choose as your coach? the one with the qualifications?
Anybody who turns up for those days gets passed however crap they are.

just responding about the coaching qualifications. Having a coaching certificate does not make you a great coach just keep you in touch about coaching and keep you up to date .Currently we have lots people coaching juniors with 70's or 80's methods and not having coaching certificate.the game is changing .. I like to mention that because someone is a player or good player doesn't makes you a good Coach.

just because you are the coach of a winning team does not make you a good coach. If you are surrounded by quality players it is them that are getting the results not you. Try taking on a club with poor history and improve it if you do then and only then can you call yourself a coach.
